Project 4: Montage

KelliePitchforth-P4Montage

  1. Description: An inspirational and spiritual montage that was made by blending three images. My typography knowledge was shown and implemented in my montage.
  2. Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, Steps taken while designing): I started a new document in PhotoShop and open it landscape size. (11X8.5). I placed the an embedded image to become the background of the document. I then opened a new tab and used the laso tool (with 150 pixels) to move the soldier with the masks face onto the praying man. I created a new layer and started to blend the images together using the brush tool. I then placed another image onto the piece of a solider’s uniform. I blended that as well with using the brush tool. The praying man had his eyes looking down, so I copied the eye from another picture, used photoshop to make it black and white, then blended it into his face. The last part dealt with typography. I alternated not only the fonts, and size, but the color as well. Programs/Tools Used: Adobe Photoshop
  3. Message: To show that the Lord doesn’t give someone who is weak trails that are too hard or that they cannot handle. The ones who he gives his hardest trials too, are those whom can handle it. They are the strong ones.
  4. Audience: Anyone who is struggling with trails in their lives, and feels like they cant handle it.
  5. Top Thing Learned: How to use different tools within Photoshop. Mainly adding layers that can be manipulated by the brush tool.
  6. Filter / Colorization used and where it was applied: I used the black and white filter on the eye on the left. It was originally colored.
  7. Color scheme and color names: Monochromatic. (Different shades of greens)
  8. Title Font Name & Category: Constantia Regular (Oldstyle)  & Lucida Sans Unicode Regular (Sans Serif)
  9. Copy Font Name & Category: Constantia Regular (Oldstyle) & Lucida Sans Unicode Regular (Sans Serif)

  1. Wow, you project is really creative. You did an amazing job creating this montage. I think my favorite thing is that your background photo is black and white and the camo shows through. Your message is very clear with the photo alone. Good job communicating through a picture! One other thing that I really like is that your text is simple and plays well with your theme. 2. Great blending of two photos! The message is really strong as well. I really like the contrasts in your fonts as well. One other strong point is using one black and white photo with a color photo.
